Cleanling Laminate Countertops

22 Jan Cleaning Laminate Countertops

Countertops enhance the look of your kitchen and bathroom but they are also the most heavily used and abused. Contamination from germs and bacteria is an ongoing battle. Cleaning your laminate countertops is essential to their appearance, longevity and the health of your family.

Laminate countertops are easy to clean and maintain. However, they can be scratched so the first rule of cleaning is to use non-abrasive cleaners and wipes. We recommend water and a soft cloth or sponge for daily cleaning. Use a mild, anti-bacterial cleaner or wipes for less frequent cleaning. For rough surface laminates and around seams and edges, use a soft nylon brush.

Moisture can seep into seams, edges and scratches. Over time this can cause swelling and cracks in the laminate. Always use a soft cloth to dry your countertops after cleaning.

Remember, to keep you laminate countertops looking their best, you should clean them frequently. To avoid stains, clean any spills immediately. In our next article, we will discuss options for removing stains.
